The landmark public-private partnership links health and business leaders in an effort to reduce the negative health impacts of tobacco and secondhand smoke. The effort stems in part from the Ministry of Health’s recent “China Report on the Health Hazards of Smoking” which stated that more than one million deaths are caused by tobacco each year in China.
